If you live in southwest Georgia, you know how suited our environment is for growing mushrooms. Just look outside after a good rain! Lake Seminole Farm has taken full advantage of our climate and habitat to grow healthy, quality organic Shiitake mushrooms year-round. The family and volunteers inoculate locally-sourced logs with certified organic spawn. Fresh crops are ready to harvest weekly and are free of pesticides, herbicides, and additives. The farm now grows varieties of oyster mushrooms as well. Fresh and dried mushrooms can be found at farmers markets, restaurants, and small groceries in southwest Georgia and north Florida.
Lake Seminole Farm is located on the shores of Lake Seminole. You can find recipes, information about their products and growing process, and even volunteer on their website.
Shiitake mushrooms make a healthy, delicious alternative to meat, and are a rare delicacy to most of the US. Bainbridge Farmers Market is extremely fortunate to have Lake Seminole Farm just down the road! Let’s give them and each of our vendors a warm Bainbridge welcome at the Farmers Market Opening Day.
